Although cameras are common place these days posse of photographers on the street can still attract attention.  Last Saturday our photography class was on assignment out on the streets of Wellington. Almost immediately my classmates and I split from each other to find a quite corner to watch the street life. Our assignment was to make pictures that reflect confrontation (taking a picture of someone who knows you are taking their picture), a glimpse (taking a picture of someone who doesn’t know) and decisive moment (predicting when that might be).

As always I find these assignments nerve wracking but after a while was able to calm my nerves sufficiently to photograph complete strangers.  I even had the courage from time to time to ask people if I could take their photographs.  Surprisingly people were most willing and very friendly.  Here’s the final edit that I presented to the class on Monday in addition to my favourite shot I posted earlier.
