My wish for Spring was granted earlier this week. The bassets were loving the warmer sun to laze around on the veranda doing very little. They were hoping for good weather to linger so they could get their extra long walk. There are always special hikes to be had a a weekend.
I’d been wishing for good weather for the UK too. There was a family wedding this weekend – MT’s cousin – Suzie marrying Steve. Suzie was my bridesmaid when we got married 13 years ago.
Unfortunately the bassets nor Suzie got their perfect weather but I’m sure it didn’t dampen the excitement and fun that was had. Setting aside the weather it was our first major family occasion we’ve missed being in New Zealand. That 12,000 mile difference opened up wide for us this weekend knowing the whanau would be gathering to enjoy this momentous occasion.
Back here in kiwi land we were enjoying another wintery blast. We woke to snow with the Rimutaka Hill closed to traffic. It seemed like it was going to settle as it gently layered the garden. Like before it seemed to disappear as quickly as it arrived but did put in another quick appearance as Fortnum and Mason took us out for a walk.
Oh what fun it would have been had the snow really settled. Maybe I should stop wishing for Spring weather and stick to wishing for snow. Wonder what weather you were wishing for this weekend?
First view from our bedroom window – you can just make out the hills
Basset walking weather :o(
At least the double digging of the salad/herb/vegetable bed can be put off for another weekend!
Extra licking for the bassets on the grasses!
Opphs, really must spread that mulch – snow makes it a little more conspicuous
Hi Guys, you may get this twice as my fingers don’t seem to know what they are doing just now, so apologies in advance. I just love the new look website and really enjoy catching up on all that you have been doing. I can’t believe that it is 7 months since I was out staying with you and am determined to start saving towards another visit (which could be good, or bad, news for you !!) Haven’t the boys grown, I shall look forward to being taken more walks by them when I return. I am actually at home just now, for 7 consecutive weeks, unusual for me, but lots of family and friends like to visit, especially over the Edinburgh Festival, so I get lots of culture as well as company ! Had 3 Australian lads staying, former schoolfriends of my Grandaughter’s, who are taking a year out from University to travel, then my Sister-in Law arrived, also from Sydney, a german friend, a former neighbour from when we lived up north, my Stepson from Malta and, finally, an old nursing friend and her husband, from London, who arrive next week. I met up with Sue Burr recently, when I was down in Bournemouth, she is very well and enjoying her retirement from the RCN. I have had a few phone calls from Mary Sloyan, she is enjoying life and we keep promising to meet up again one day soon when I am down London way. Our weather has been the usual British summer of lots of rain but occasional dry days and quite warm, (17C) well at least for us in Scotland ! Best wishes and a hug for the boys.
I love your photos! And I must admit I am slightly envious of the snow you have had. We have a sneaky view of the Rimutuka from our garden and the snow fall looked amazing. Not sure there is much left now though considering all this rain! xx
