I’ve taken up the mantle of the nosey neighbour from our neighbour Jim.  Whilst we were building our house Jim didn’t miss a trick watching what was happening and keeping an eye on the builders.  He knows more about how our house was built that I do.

OK, that’s probably not true but you get the picture.  I am enjoying noseying on the new house being built for our neighbours Ross and Janet.  It’s fascinating to see how this all wood house is being constructed.

Like lots of others I’ve been wondering about insulation.  It turns out that the insulation is locked between the wood that makes up the walls.  Phew, that’s a relief.  I’d hate to think of a new house being built up here without any insulation.

Progress seems slow at the moment but I think its the precise nature of the work.  I saw the builders taking a large hammer and whacking the walls to get them into alignment.  It was painful to watch but I’m sure a necessary step.  Now they’ve moved onto the roof and it’s starting to be transformed into a house.  When the roof goes on I’m sure it will move up a pace with the windows and doors going in.

Whilst I’ll be pleased for them that it gets to lock down stage  it will spoil my nosey exploits somewhat.  Luckily they are nice people and won’t mind me sticking my beak in from time to time to see what’s happening!
