Can you believe another year has passed?
Last time I looked I was celebrating the new millennium. It seems like yesterday I was writing strategic plans for the year 2010. Now we’re into 2009 and I don’t know where the days went in the last year. Yikes, in a couple of months we’ll be celebrating being in New Zealand for three years.
How time flies when you’re having fun.
Here at Domestic Executive HQ we had a quiet New Year. So quiet it passed with a grunt and snore. Not even George marked the occasion with a special New Year crow. I’m not one for New Year’s. Somehow it feels like a strange manufactured moment that we’re led to believe that we should be “celebrating”.
That’s not to say I don’t and haven’t enjoyed myself on New Year. I’ve got lots of great New Year memories but as the years have passed I can’t party like I used to. So in our own quiet way we saw out the old year and saw in the new. Good food, lots of bubbles and great company. What more do you need.
Away from the New Year hype, things have been pretty much as normal. Well normal for holiday mode. Lots of walking, talking and chilling out. Well for some of us.
My Father-in-Law has been hard at it again. With the thistles under control he’s moved his talents on to painting the fence.
From this:
To this:
He’s been working hard. Putting in practice for painting when he gets home and has his new house to decorate.
The bassets have been keeping a close eye on things – from the veranda that is!
It’s fair to say that there were other family members that were taking it a little easier, testing out his Christmas present.
With a little help from his Mother.
No doubt. My Mother-in-Law has got the hang of this lying around in a hammock!
As I say, it’s holiday mode here at Domestic Executive HQ. How are you enjoying your holiday?
That first photo has got me so homesick !!! Great photos!!
Friend of mine has a hammock. I tried getting into it recently and it dumped me straight out. More practice needed, methinks. 🙂
Happy New Year to you and yours !!!
Oh, New Year’s Day here … we’ve finally joined you all in 2009. Hopefully it will be a better year than the last !!
Happy New Year! Already seeing the wonderful results of your new camera in action! Sounds like a wonderfully, relaxed New Year and it is so lovely to spend with close friends and loved ones, a time for reflection on the past, embracing the gift of the present and looking forward to fulfilling aspirations.
Absolutely LOVE that hammock – but finding the time to lie in one is another matter – hey?! But, whilst the sun shines and the evenings are still warm (mostly!) you’ll hopefully get a chance to swing gently in the evening breeze with a good book, listening to the joyous sounds of nature abound.
Very best wishes for a wonderful 2009 filled with happiness.
Family Lee x
Hi there – I reckon Chez Lee needs it’s own hammock. How much fun could you have together snoozing and smoozing together! Happy 2009 to you! J x
Happy New year again!! Oh you totally blow me away with your photos!!
So good to see you had fun, and yes we are also heading to our 3rd year!!
Lots of love xxxxx
Marrisa, you blow me away with your comments. It’s such a wonderful thing to read them as you always give such positive feedback and insight! JT x
Very merry happy new year to you all. Good to have family with you at this time of the year ( I know I sometimes am a little slow on the uptake but you mention a new house for mam and dad, have they moved back to England?). We had a quiet but as Kevin said hectic new year lol switching to all the programmes of new year around the world, pouring out drinks and stuffing our faces as a last farewell to the christmas indulgent lifestyle. Now it is time to get the figure back to some semblance of normality, clean the house out, get rid of last years rubbish and all the other things that have to be done as soon as possible after the turn of the new year. Mind all this work takes ones mind off the grumbling tum lol. Happy new year to you all again.
Good to know that the Robbie household hasn’t changed that much. Looking forward to seeing you later in the year!
