We had a stunning sunset last night which of course I can’t do photographic justice to.  That moon was a lovely crescent – not that you’d see on this!

The nights are really drawing out and somehow it seems warmer in the evenings than I remember last year.  As soon as the sun goes down normally the temperature plummets leaving you goosebumps to contend with.  Not this year so far.

As well as stunning evening skies, there was another excitement yesterday.  I saw a peafowl.  In the wild.  On our walking path.  Bold as brass strutting up and down.  You can imagine what the bassets thought of that!

Just before Fortnum broke his personal best land record pace and chased the peahen away I managed to capture a couple of slightly out of focus pictures on maximum zoom.  That’s my way of preparing you for a fuzzy picture!

Can you see it’s blue plume on it’s head?

That’s just as well because this frightened peahen then scarpered by taking off and finding solace in a tree.

I didn’t know this before but peafowl are native to New Zealand.  Perhaps we can entice a couple to come and live on our lawn when it’s grown.  How regal it would be to have peacock strutting on the lawn.  Need to get that big net to bag them from the forest when I see them again.
