I’ve had the drains up here at Domestic Executive HQ. The plumbing was looking a little rotten in places, there were leaks and all manner of gremlins lurking. To flush out the waterworks I have upgraded all the software and put on a new outfit.
I have grand plans but for now I wanted to get the new look up and running before getting too ambitious. That’s code for when I get time I’ll carry on tinkering but for now we’ll make do with what we’ve got.
A quick word for those less tech savvy about finding your way around from the home page:
BIG PICTURES: the rotating big pictures on the front page are some of my favourite pictures and for now they link to a selection of posts e.g. bassets, photography, daily snap. In time they’ll link to my photography galleries.
LITTLE PICTURES: these are the latest posts and you just click on the photo to take you there.
TWITTER FEEDS: these are the micro blog posts of both Martin and I posted on Twitter. Daily thoughts and links we find interesting. Don’t forget to follow if you’re a twitterer yourself.
You can of course use the navigation menus in the usual way. If you want to make it easy on yourself and get the latest posts direct you subscribe through your RSS, Twitter and Facebook from the top bar on the home page.
Hope you like the freshen up. Would love to know what you think. Any complaints see my alter-ego!
Ooooh I do like the big pictures (though I just got an eyeful of scones and cream – so Im now hungry!). And I love the little cartoon birds. Im having similar issues with my blog too, and was just saying to hubby last night I need to have a clean up.
Oh, and your tagline – snapshots of the good life in New Zealand – like that too. That really does sum up your site.
I never knew that keeping a blog would suck me in to website designing. I can see why people get hooked and then change their careers. The brilliant thing is that there are such fantastic resources available to you for wordpress blogs and for a very small investment you can have something that’s half decent you can tweak rather than starting from scratch. That said it’s no small undertaking so good luck with your clean up.
Wow! Your plumbing is revolutionary! Love the clear, easy to navigate, yet stylish new look. This is a great way to showcase your awesome photography. Like Avalon I also love your tag line and the cartoon birds! Well done!
Glad you like it Sarah – it’s been simmering away for so long I didn’t ever think I’d get it finished. The hardest thing was looking for design inspiration but I’m happy with it now it’s up and running.
Julie – your new look website looks fantastic – I love it! Speak soon. Sarahx
Thanks Sarah – great to know you’re still popping in to check us out. Speak soon. xx
