Being a photographer has fine tuned the way I see things. Especially how I see light. Light comes in so many shapes, sizes, intensity and colours there is a seemingly limitless way it bathes us in a warm glow. I was very struck by how the light twinkled on the bushes following a light shower when out walking at the weekend. It reminded me of fancy white fairy lights which in turn reminded me that the festive season is not too far away. It’s that time of year we need to start planning for cards, gifts and other paraphernalia to meet the snail mail last posting dates. Such advance planning somewhat takes the shine off Christmas festivities but at least this photograph has given me great hopes for this year.
Beautiful picture. I am waiting for some good weather at the weekends so we can get out into the countryside a bit to do some photography!
So are you used to this Christmas in summer thing yet? As someone in the US planning a move to NZ in the next year, I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around the “It’s spring so Christmas is coming” concept.
Hi Krys, the topsie turvey seasons is something I’ve never really got my head around. There is something unseasonal about Christmas in summer. The worst season is definitely winter which seems like an awfully long haul with no let up. At least in the northern hemisphere you get the festivities of the holidays to break it up. But I’m sure we’ll get the hang of it eventually.
So beautiful!
