Taking a walk through the bush is like moving through a prehistoric land.  A place full of strange and beautiful things.  One of my favourites is the Ponga Tree which are the native New Zealand fern trees.  With the warm wet climate this winter it’s perfect growing conditions for our temperate forests that thrive in the wet weather.  I noticed for the first time this weekend the ponga trees are starting to throw out their new growth.  This hairy critter will turn into a more beautiful koru before unfurling into a full grown fern leaf.
