I vowed earlier this year that I’d get the Domestic Executive balance right.  It’s been a struggle for much of the year but the last couple of weeks I finally feel that I’m heading in the right direction.  Work is now most definitely shoehorned into three days a week and there’s been enough flexibility in the diary that big assignments that need more preparation and planning are getting scheduled in rather than my usual trick of simply adding it to my “non work days” meaning I have to subtract time from my more domestic duties. The fact that the ironing pile has been cleared each week is the biggest signal that I must be getting something right.

With a “gardening day” now embedded in the diary I have no excuse for starting to get on top of the burgeoning list of things to do outdoors.  Just keeping on top of the weeding feels like a full time occupation.  But unless you do before you know it the whole place is overrun with nature’s triffids.  I spend several back breaking hours weeding the steps – now if that isn’t a luxury on a week day I don’t know what is.
