We’re enjoying Wellington Day today.  This means a day off for MT and the annual basset show.

Last year was a daunting experience to be taking Fortnum and Mason to a place with so many other people and bassets but they behaved beautifully despite it being one of the hottest days of the year.

This year our bassets were equally well behaved as other bassets strutted their stuff.  We like to attend the show and see what other bassets are like.  It’s also a wonderful way for Fortnum and Mason to see their rele’s as their breeder brings their family to the show.

Like mother, like daughter – this is Abi (left) and Bonnie – mum and sister to F&M.  Can you see the family resemblance?

This is Berkley, F&M’s uncle.  He and Fortnum are so alike and they have the same mannerisms too!

Showing bassets takes a lot of effort to get them to show off in the right way.

All that posing doesn’t last long though as soon as it’s time to relax this is what happens!

I think they look very refined when they are in their show off position

All standing to grab the judges attention

Here’s our family group posing

Mason was off busy making friends

Here’s another friendly gang

But even in the show ring bassets will do what bassets do – sniff and sniff!

And our bassets will sulk when it’s time to go home!

There’s no doubt that seeing so many bassets in one place makes you realise how many shapes and sizes of bassets there are.  As always I think big and little basset are the best looking around, followed only by their basset family who we are big fans of too!
