In the productivity stakes I was rocking and rolling today.  Work, shop, errands and then back home to dig up a few spuds for our dinner.  As I scuttled off with my bucket of earthy potatoes there were screams of “pick me” coming from almost every other bed.  The rain and warmth has been doing it’s work in the kitchen garden and everything is flourishing.

Before I knew where I was I had more vegetables than my bucket would carry.  This is what MT call’s my lazy person’s load.  Too lazy to make two trips or fetch the big basket designed for lugging my harvest.  But it’s been a busy day and I couldn’t face an extra 300 steps so the bassets and I trailed up the garden path with my heavy bucket full of goodies which I promptly shared with my neighbours who can now face the challenge of dealing with a courgette and cucumber mountain.

This little episode reminded me how much I still have to learn about growing food.  I’m getting good at planning and executing but the harvesting productively still has some way to go.  I can see tomorrow being another preserving day – pickled cucumber anyone?
