The prolonged sunny spell is a welcome change from what has otherwise been a tough winter. With such bright skies it has been a perfect excuse to extend the basset walks to fit in a bit of photography practice. As I looked skyward to enjoy the heat in the sun I was struck by how the trees had suddenly burst into a new lease of life. I wonder whether this intensive period of sun has fooled the trees into thinking it is Spring already.
Whatever the reason I was struck again by the variation of greens there are in nature. Also the architectural features of trees. At the Kaitoke Regional Park the trees are particularly impressive towering high in the sky with a multitude of shapes. It’s an altogether different scale to those I was photographing recently at Tunnel Gully.
There are all sorts of shapes but each bringing their own beauty to the wider landscape.
This one reminds me of a bird’s nest, ready for a flock of birds to move in.
This one is altogether more symmetrical.
Which this one is most definitely not.
Even the regular looking trees have a majestic appeal when you look up and see them against the bright backdrop of the sky.
The more I examine the native bush local to me the more I am captivated by it’s diversity and beauty. You can’t help but feel the magic of middle earth at work.
