Our neighbours house is progressing.  They’ve just had the windows down which means it’s locked down.  With the roof covering still to go on it’s not quite watertight.  That’s a bit of a shame really as it’s been bucketing down this week.

I know you’ve been wondering how they are going to clad this wooden house. So I’m pleased to be able to tell you……

…… it’s going to be brick.  Yes, I know.  Wooden house inside and brick outside.  Personally I’m still trying to reconcile that.  Here’s the bricks lined up ready for the cladding to start.

Underneath the building paper is a layer of insulation which is a huge relief to me.  I was wondering whether it would in fact have any insulation in there.

I hope that they manage to get the roof on before Christmas.  That will make all the difference to making the house completely water tight and secure.

The house is supposed to be complete by the end of February.  Since the builders are not taking their traditional Christmas down tools they probably have a chance of achieving this.  Also because they won’t be gibbing and painting inside because it’s all wood.

I get a real sense of excitement now when I see houses being built.  It brings back memories of ours going up and the different stages being reached.  I have to say though I am pleased we are now complete.  It’s better as a memory than the actual thing!
