My husband will tell you I am directionally challenge but today I arrived in a real nice place.  You know how it is with the Internet.  You start following links and before you know where you are you’ve been through the virtual spaghetti junction and lost not just your way but about 5 hours of your life.

In my quest for inspiration I arrived at Operation NICE. A cool blog campaigning for people be nicer to each other.  Since I believe that if people played nicer there would be fewer wars in the world it seemed like this website might be a small step to global peace.

So in the spirit of niceness, I want to thank all my blog readers and especially those who make the effort to comment.  You light up my day!  You have no idea what a boost it is to see that (a) someone is actually reading my blog and (b) they are nice enough to want to talk back to me.   The comments of late have been truly inspiring and spurred me on to continue to think great thoughts and look for cool things to tell you about.

Today’s picture was taken on Friday evening – it was another one of those views out the back that was there for just a few minutes.  Seeing the sun shining on the hill on what was otherwise a pretty dreary scene was not just a moment of contentment but one of sheer delight.

This blog started on June 15, 2006 as a pipeline to family and friends.   OK, I admit, it was also a bit of therapy for me.  I was taking a career break having moved to New Zealand and going a little stir crazy with all that was happening in our lives.  Starting a blog was not just a creative outlet to focus my mind but was a safe haven for me.

More than two years on my blogging has served me well and I’m meeting more and more people through the wonders of the internet.  From now on I’m going to show more gratitude for all my nice readers and see if together we can make the world a nicer place to be.
