17 years in the depth of rural Devon and I have absolutetly no desire for the bright lights. Last year’s visits to Bristol (for teeth and eyes) were enough to convince me that I’m not a city person which I always knew anyway. The only good thing I take from my many years in London is the ability to walk across traffic confidently – is that a good thing? Fond memories of the museums, the Commonwelth Institute, Biba, Harrods, rock concerts in Hyde Park, Petticoat Lane and Portobello Road are not enough to drag me back, give me the moors and the sea any day.
