I’ve always had a soft spot for “market towns”. Full of independent retailers and the heart of communities with a treasure trove of happenings. They may not be hip and happening places but they have a resilience that keeps them alive.  Our local town, Upper Hutt has all you might need day to day but doesn’t rest on its laurels. If you dig deep there is a thriving arts, culture and sports scene happening. Most of which passes me by. I am however a great advocate and supporter of our farmers market that continues to go from strength to strength. When I popped down last weekend I noticed something new in the street where the market is held and vowed to come back and take a photograph. This is one of several sculptures around Upper Hutt which is undergoing an upgrade right now. Couldn’t find out more about this work but will update when I do.
I think it’s quite cool – it’s definitely an attraction right now. As people walking past stop to admire, touch and mimic the sculpture.
We saw this on friday when we passed through Upper Hutt. The centre was almost completely empty so this sculpture really stood out. The girls thought it looked cool as well!
Looks pretty ‘armless. Joking apart, it’s good to see art in an everyday environment.
