A week ago MT and his Dad were basking in sunshine and whilst the Basin Reserve in Wellington may not quite be the MCG in Melbourne it is, I am told, a fine ground for a spot of cricket.  The crowds are smaller but the games can be as important – in this case the Black Caps are playing Pakistan and I think doing rather well.  Which makes a change!

Unlike the MCG that ruled the crowds with an iron rod, things are much more laid back here across the ditch.  Spectators are encouraged to take a stroll across the pitch and inspect the wicket.

As you can see, MT didn’t waste a chance to get up close with my camera.

Just a week on it’s no weather for cricket – in fact no weather for much outdoors.  The fine weather was too good to last and now nature is getting the respite it needs.  Traditionally, summer doesn’t arrive until Wellington Anniversary weekend so we’ve have a massive bonus so far.  If the forecasts are right we’ll be returning to the good weather this coming week which is just as well as the chores list is still long and only another week before I go back to work.
