There is only one thing more disconcerting than to trip over your own feet.  To trip over a pair of feet that are seemingly growing from the ground.  I did just that whilst wandering around the Ellerslie Flower Show in Christchurch a couple of weeks ago.  These lifelike sculptures were both goulish and captivating which is more than I can say about the nasty infestation growing in my blog over recent weeks.  My sincere apologies to anyone who may have been unceremoniously redirected to some unsavory on-line haunts.

Seems that my website had been hacked by a malware which embeds code into your website files and like something out of a horror movie multiplies itself.  Thousands of wordpress sites were hacked, probably by breaching the security of my hosting company.  After spending hours finding and zapping the offending bug it became clear that this monster was bigger than anything I was going to fix by myself and I had to bite the bullet and get a specialist to work their magic.

Thankfully a nice man in cyberspace ferreted around under the bonnet of my blog and cleaned things up so we’re back to our usual clean and sparingly self.  This virtual violation has been exceedingly annoying to say the least.  I can’t fathom what sort of kicks people get from hacking but whoever they are I hope that one day they trip over their own feet and fall flat on their face.

After being having my regular posting so rudely interrupted I’m pleased to be back and have quite a backlog of blog posts to catch up with. If there is another invasion I’ve got it covered as the site is now monitored and the nice people who cleaned things up for me will swoop in and do the same again.  Since starting this blog I’ve been reasonable self sufficient but when it comes to cyber crime I really did need a helping hand.
