It’s been a very long time since we’ve endured so much rain in such a short space of time. New Zealand’s drought has well and truly broken with flooding, land slips and the usual range of challenging conditions that the rain brings. Put together with some biting southerlies it’s time to accept that winter is now well and truly here.
These damp conditions are not conducive for photography and certainly I’ve been reluctant to take my shining new camera out in the damp. I have however continued to see photographs wherever I go so I packed up my trusty D40 in the hope of a break in the rain. Alas the rain hasn’t stopped. In the last two week’s we’ve had 128.5mm of rain. That’s a lot of damp.
From past pictures, it seems that you live at the bottom of a hill, I do hope that this isn’t your front porch!! What have the boys been doing with all this rain? Sulking around the house, anxious for their daily walks? Doing a little indoor rough-housing?
Enjoy your winter as my summer has surely arrived here as well, bringing temps in the mid 90’sf (35c) (my new cell phone has an application on it called “converter” it lets me convert everything from F-C, measurements, currency, etc….. that was the first time I got to use it, cool!!)
Bundle up, stay warm, grab a good book and a cup of joe, and enjoy a little me time while you can!!
Great photo – it’s such a simple image, and one could walk past the subject over and over again without capturing the pleasing composition, repeating pattern and interplay of light and dark that you have here. Nice one!
Just as we are at last getting some warm weather it must be your turn to suffer, shame ha ha. Great piccy would make a great design for a Scarf, even using the same colours. Keep warm and dry
