Gale force winds in recent weeks have brought down more trees on our favourite forest walk.  It was about this time last year when we suffered a similar fate. This time there was only one tree blocking out path but it was enough to cause a major interest for the bassets a walkers detour.

When you get up close to this fallen tree you realise how big these trees really are.  When they are standing upright they are clearly tall but you don’t get the full sense of scale until you can get up close and personal.

Fortnum was definitely pleased as such a large tree offered vast sniffing possibilities which enriched his walking experience.

I was fascinated by the trees that had been blown over but not felled as they were supported by trees still standing strong.  They brought new texture to the forest.

And an interesting photographic opportunity.

With the better weather planned for the weekend I’m hoping to get out and about with my camera a bit.  That is of course if we get our chores done as I’ve been working more hours which week which spoils my domestic capabilities.  There was a small domestic breakthrough this week though as the sunshine and winds meant I was able to load up the washing line and get fresh air dried laundry.  The fact that I had to spent a few minutes chasing pillow cases around the garden after gusty wind was a bit stronger than my pegging!

There is no doubt I’m feeling happier when the sun shines and it gives you hope that we are through the worst of winter and there is the bright light of Spring in sight.  The chickens are happier too as the longer daylight means that they are back into egg production and I’ll be able to make my first egg deliveries to neighbours as gather more eggs than we can ever hope to eat in a week.

Yes, it’s definitely feeling like Spring is on the way for real now.
