It has seemed like slow progress on our neighbours house. Not much happening although the tell tale signs of builders bashing and their radio blaring have been there. It was only upon closer inspection that I realised that the “lack of progress” is because the first fix has been underway.
What’s intriguing is how they are wiring the house given it’s construction methodology.
Here’s what I mean.
Normally the wiring would be installed after the roof goes on but because there isn’t a roof void like you would normally have the wiring needs to be laid before the roof goes on. Good job we’ve had some dry weather.
The build paper has gone on too so that means there is more cladding to come. I wonder if there will be more insulation put in between the cladding?
Your guess is as good as mine. Never fear though my mother in law comes this week and I can guarantee that by the end of the weekend she’ll have the life story of the builders and found some way of them being connected to Nuneaton as well as getting chapter and verse on the construction techniques. My mother-in-law is clever like that. So be patient and all will be revealed!
In the meantime much to be done to prepare for the impending arrival. Corners to dust, crevices to be checked. Oh, and the ironing to be finished (or hidden well) so I can present myself as the perfect daughter-in-law.
Funny though, I don’t think she’ll be fooled by any of this – she knows me too well!
We have often been bewildered at the way houses are built over here. It also amazes me when they actually pick up the house and move it, and the house ‘graveyards’ where you can go buy a house all ready made!!
I hope you managed that cleaning, I am also on ‘must get the house ready for the mothe in law’ mission xx
