It’s hard to believe that after living in the house for around 7 months we are almost done with the builders. Yes, the snagging list has been snagged all bar one item and one that we have simply decided we can’t bear the pain to get repaired so settled on a suitable credit for the muck up.
I know I should be excited that we’re finally complete but after all this time I’m absolutely, without doubt, unequivocally over it!
It’s not that I’m not grateful don’t get me wrong. I pinch myself every day that I’m lucky enough to be living where I am. Fabulous outlook, plenty of walking, clean air (if a little chilly at the moment) and the prospect of a small community of neighbours all pitching in and sharing what they have.
We were the recipient of a bale of hay (for chicken nesting boxes), sausages and mince from Ross and Janet yesterday. We in return let them have some of our remaining honeycomb. It’s a small start for our Kaitoke sustainability but it felt good and I’m looking forward to building up the kitchen garden so we can trade more with the neighbours.
The picture on the post is a new one. A completely different view I’ve not seen before. The bassets and I roamed far across the valley to be able to look back at our place. Not a bad backdrop with the Rimutakas behind. Makes you realise how small us humans really are when you look at the broader landscape!
