It’s a busy week executive wise and that always brings more tension.  Mainly of my own making as I try to be all things to all people.  All this internal conflict is never fun especially when people let you down.

Waiting by the phone for a coaching client to call but they don’t is exceedingly frustrating.  You then spend a while trying to track them down only to find they’ve forgotten or just plain decided not to call.  You’d think in this day and age of modern communications technology that a call, text or email to tell me would not beyond the realms of possibility.

You’d think I’d be pleased to have the time freed up – after all I’m getting paid since I’m committed to booking the time.  Nah, it just makes me more irritated as I’ve done my bit of preparation.  I’ve organised what I want to do that day around the diary commitments and then “waste” time, paid or not, only to find out I could have done something else instead.  Phew – rant over…..

What I’d much rather be doing is being outside.  Planting some trees, clearing some gorse or maybe just going sightseeing with the dogs.  The lead picture on this post shows a great view towards Wellington along the Hutt Valley.  Fortnum and Mason needed the exercise so we went to the Regional Park to see the view.

It was an inspiring few moments to see into the distance but what was more enjoyable was to see that I’m not the only person with gorse problems and in comparison to these mine are pretty small.

So, even when I get frustrated I do count my blessings.  After all MT has to hack along the valley to the big smoke and I don’t have to do that journey nor deal with more than one inconsiderate person at a time.

The bassets have a very healthy outlook on this all to.  When it all gets too much the best antidote is a trip out to do some sniffing!
