A little like Spring I’ve been struggling to get a flowing rhythm.  Just as I feel I’m getting into a strong flow something stops me from moving forward easily.  Today I had grand wet weather plans for editing my recent photography field trips.  But no, a little voice said no point in persevering with your clunky digital filing system, why not stop and put it right and then move on.  Fair point my brain said even if my heart was tugging for a little fun and creativity.

I wish I had boxed the ears of that rational, logical, perfectionist self and stuck to my idea of fun.  But no, I’ve spent hours sorting and organising my digital files.  With around 30,000 on the disk it was hardly a thorough job but enough to weed out the duplicates and get some semblance of order.  I deleted about 10,000 images and freed up some much needed storage space.  Feeling very pleased with myself I gave myself 30 minutes to process today’s post only for both Aperture and Photoshop to grind to a halt.

It seems spring cleaning your laptop causes extreme confusion to your photo editing tools.  Deep intake of breath, fiddling around with settings, preferences, cache and heavens knows what other knobs I’ve twiddled to be able to finally publish.  It’s a huge relief I can tell you.

After today’s digital battle, I’m feeling a little like this miniature flower head from the Chatham Island Forget-Me-Not.  Hanging in there despite the wind, rain and other forces of nature.
