My fellow tweeters will know that little basset has had surgery. A minor operation to sew up his ear. He is fine but nursing 8 stitches and suffering the indignity of having to walk around with a cloth bag over his ear (a precautionary measure to stop him licking his wound). He either bit it himself or more likely Big Basset took a bite and Little Basset pulled away with Fortnum’s tooth embedded causing a wound of about 3 inches which turned out to be much deeper than we first thought. Luckily Karen, their Day Carer helped out with the trip to the vets.
This was not a dog fight but rather Mason probably pushing his luck by licking Big Basset’s face in the night. Normal relations have been restored between the two of them but it’s been an upsetting week all round and more than usual to worry about.
pleased to hear my buddy is doing ok
I lost count of how many times Abigails ears were injured during play fights and wrestles with other dogs (mostly my sisters) She was a tough girl and could really dish it out. Unfortunately when jaws start snapping and ears start flying, sometimes the 2 meet and well, it’s not good. She had a few punctures, some serious scrapes and bruises, luckily nothing ever quit so serious that it needed a vets attention. Poor Mason, I feel bad for the little fella, but I’m sure that he’s going to milk this for all it’s worth and enjoy all the extra attention that comes form being injured.
It’s been a summer to remember for you and your bassets, first Fortnam’s eye and now this.
