Technology, work and my mental capacity conspired against me this week to keep blogging up. I’ve been away from home working up north at Mount Ruapehu. Just getting there was an adventure in itself, riding along in a midget prop plane. I knew when we booked flights from Wellington to Taupo that it would be no jet plane but seeing it sitting on the tarmac being loaded made me realise how small this plane really was. No flight attendants, just the first officer to welcome you on board and check that were were strapped in.
Luckily Wellington winds behaved themselves and it was a relatively painless ride. We picked up a car and drove the final hour or so to Whakapapa Village and the Chateau hotel where I worked for three days. I wished I had more time to explore but I was pretty much locked in the venue during daylight although I did treat myself to a wander around the car park to get some fresh air. Otherwise it was pretty much work work work.
Being a passenger on a small plane does at least mean that you can look out the front window!
Although I was quite busy experimenting with my camera out the window. Even little planes go pretty fast and create some amazing patterns photographically!
