Fortnum and Mason can be the best of friends, partners in crime and soul mates. Then in a breath they can be independent of each other, fighting with each other and sleeping back to back away from each other. Just like any other close relationship they have their ups and downs.
This afternoon we enjoyed a lovely walk in tunnel gully. They were up to their usual tricks being playful and generally ignorant of me.  Tonight however we had a flash fight between the two of them all over who was going to get to sit with me.
Sitting with the leader is the honour of the top dog. Since they haven’t yet worked out who really is top dog we get these daily power struggles which can be tiring and often a bit upsetting. Especially when you might be sandwiched between two feuding dogs.
You wouldn’t think it were possible when you see how synchronised they were this afternoon on our walk. They almost look like a mirror image.
But then a moment later they are off doing their own thing. Here’s Mason looking out for mischief.
Checking out all there is to sniff.
Fortnum is not far behind.
Doing his thing.
I do love Fortnum’s ankles. They are so knobbly with all their baggy skin.
Here they are back in sync.
And up to no good.
For two bassets like these are never good for very long. They are brewing up to chase something they shouldn’t.
Don’t be fooled by this synchronisation. They are back their independent selves in a flash.
Little basset is always looking out for something new to do.
Whilst Fortnum will just lie down and see what fun comes to him.
It’s their different characters and little ways that make them truly loveable. Together they make an unbeatable package.
Most of the time. When they are not grumbling with each other!
There is no double that one basset is trouble but when you have two its definitely double trouble!
I love the photo of the bottoms!!!
Michael and Bethany went to Tunnel Gulley on Sunday, went through the tunnel 7 times!!
Lovely doggies, amazing how they become so part of our lives xx
Yikes, 7 times, they are crazy!
I loved the picture of their bottoms also. It was cute. I am alos a lover of the “ankle wrinkles” they’re so cute.
You’re boys as usual are adorable. I love your stories!!
