Tonight we were celebrating. It’s been a sunny and calm day and we had temperatures of 24 degrees celsius at 7pm this evening. A rare thing indeed. We celebrated with dinner on the veranda watching the sun go down. It’s fair to say that the balmy... I snapped a series of pictures the other the day of the dogs conversing with the neighbours. Well it was the neighbour’s dog but in their world it was their neighbour for real. The camera was on zoom so the pictures aren’t great but it was a comical... With the excitement of elections it was good to get grounded again and see things in the right perspective. Actually it wasn’t so I’ve decided that keeping my eyes on the horizon is the right thing to do. Waking up this morning to be reminded that we have a new Government in waiting got me to thinking what it all might be like. The National party “swept” to power in yesterday’s election so... We have a new prime minister. Helen Clark has conceeded defeat (not a dry eye in the house – why are concession speeches often a politician’s best ?) and John Key is the new PM. Provisional result: National 59 seats, Labour 43, Green 8, Maori 5, ACT 5,...
