As the shortest day of the year passed we stepped into winter.  Yes, finally it feels like the true kiwi winter has arrived with those very chilly days and lots of rain. Although I’m not a fan of cold weather being able to feel the strong southern sun against the winter chill is a heart warming as well as body warming experience.  The morning mists before the sun burns through has been creating some amazing views of the valley and hills.  Closer to home I’m noticing much heavier dew which means only one thing in our house – wet basset undercarriages. I know that there is more wind and rain to come which gives me a perfect excuse to hunker down in front of the fire and plan the ever growing list of Spring chores.
