In reply to Couscous & Consciousness. Hi Sue, the Cloches are rhubarb forcers I think. You put them on the crop and it brings the rhubarb on producing very delicate and sweet stems. Never done it myself but very tempted! JT

What a wonderful treat and a great way to celebrate your wedding anniversary. That garden is amazing. I’m intrigued by those little terracotta domes – I want to call them “cloches” for want of a better word, but I’ve no idea what they are. Was there something underneath them?
