Thanks for all the support and advice on the breadmaker situation. Especially to my Dad who has diagnosed the problem from 12,000 miles away. Isn't he clever! I've not given up on getting this one back into operation yet. In the meantime, the Kenwood dough arm is doing a fabulous job.

I've just checked ebay and there is a RH breadmaker bucket currently on offer. it didn't give the model number but it might be what you're lookig for. I've never used a breadmaker but I often make bread by hand. Usually I make little twisted rolls as I use the cheap economy flour and not the expensive strong bread flour with a higher gluten content which is better for loaves. When my boys were all home I used to fill them up with home made pizzas . I hate it when things stop working and can't be fixed. My first washing machine lasted for 15 years and even I could get inside with a screwdriver when it did go wrong. Now you're lucky if a washing machine lasts 5 years. It's frighteneing the number of electrical items that are down at the dump. Nobody can or wants to repair them. What a waste of resources. We've thrown away so many working pc monitors, keyboards etc that Pete's brought home as spares just in case we need them, the place was getting too crowded even after giving stuff away and we really didn't need them.

Oh, you mean that breadmaker that produced the yummy loaves for our senior staff meetings at your home is dead? What a handy thing a dough hook is, when attached to such a dependable motor.

Our new leafblower/chopper recently suffered a jam-up, and when we tore it apart, we realised that they made the chopping blades of plastic, not steel! Can you believe it?

Wish we could sample your delicious breads, Julie!

I completely agree!! I am sick of having appliances that last a few years. Manufacturer guarantees running out after a year - normally a month prior to the damn thing braking down. We were looking at bread makers the other day, but we actually thought that despite possibly saving us money we would infact put on in weight - its just not possible to pass up a warm bread and butter moment!!

Well done you on your own bread, it looks gorgeous xx
