Well the cake in your pics looks pretty darn good to me. I use 8oz butter, 8oz sugar, 4 eggs, pinch of baking powder, 8oz self raise flour, 2x 8 inch tins. Gas mark 180 for 25/30mins in middle of oven. I’ll take some pics the next time I bake.

If I were to put my strawberry crop on a cake, it would have to be a cup cake. They taste amazing, but with the erratic weather, we’re only getting one or two a day. They are putting out a lot of new plants though, so I’m harvesting them and planting them where the weeds normally grow. I’m intent on replacing weeds with edibles. Your Anniversary Day haul looks amazing, and I’m a bit salivating about that cake.

I have never ventured into sponge making territory – I’m just not that brave. I’m totally in awe of anyone that can turn out a good sponge, and yours looks beautiful despite your “disappointment”.

Well I reckon that cake looks pretty delicious…I am about to venture in to victoria sponge baking territory & will be using my Mum’s recipe so I will let you know how it goes 🙂
