My absolute favorite was elderberry jelly – the only annoying bit was stripping the berries of the stalks. But the end result on hot butter toast was to die for.

Now on the very rare occasion I need a little bit of jam for an afternoon tea, or to make BlackForest Trifle, I actually just boil up the fruit and use it straight away.
