We actually did have a hill fire near us just not that long ago. No clouds, so we couldnt confuse it - and of course we got to watch the fire engines and helicopters. Took all afternoon and night to put the fire out. The only thing that stopped us panicing about it was the fact that there is a river between us and the fire :)

Theres a photo of it here (the second photo - the first one was from a newspaper about the Victoria Fires).

I' m looking at some heavy rain right now. There are 2 good things about the rain, it softens the ground and makes weeding easier and I'm forced to stay indoors and do housework. I'm discovering the total lack of any housework done by anyone since my last holiday. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it won't be wet tomorrow for the big party at school. Chris & I are definitely not happy that our classrooms will be open for people to shelter from the rain or sun. We've put stuff away and covered things up but the prospct of children getting all the equipment out to play with is not a happy one. Especially as Monday afternoon is an open afternoon for parents to come and see all their children's art works. Couldn't say anything on my blog as the boss reads it!
I always think it's so eirie when clouds form below the sky line. There is one deep valley on the way to work where this happens but there aren't many places to stop and take a picture. Sky watching is almost as nice as sea watching especially from a cosy window, cup of tea in hand.
