Great pics, Julie! The boys are looking much slimmer now that they have had their haircuts! The shearing process in itself was interesting - and I am sure the boys all thought it was like we think of the dentist. They were not impressed. However, Paul - the shearer - grabbed them one by one and strapped them to the table which was then flipped so the alpaca was on its side and then off came the fleece. As each one was released the others gathered round to see who the new boy was - they didn't recognise each other! Very funny to watch but the 'leaders' were not impressed when the young ones didn't know who they were!

Anyway, pecking order re-established and several bags of fleece in our garage waiting for re-sorting and then taking off to be carded and spun.....although I have had several suggestions that I try and spin it myself! We will see......

Coincidentally, Susan and I just visited an alpaca farm in Minnesota, Julie. We'd love to raise a few, but first we need to buy the land!

I love alpacas. There are some in a field near my house, and they always come across to say hello if you hold out a handful of grass. You should definitely get some :)
