Hi Julie!
Doesn't the world seem to get smaller everyday with the Internet?! We teach at that very school in Jumeirah, and it will remain on that property for one more year. A new campus is being built in Al Barsha (the construction zone we call home) out towards Jebel Ali. I'm sad to report nearly all of the villas surrounded the school have been- or are currently being- leveled. It is so unfortunate, as it was really the last peaceful sliver of suburbia in Dubai (unless you count the gated communities filled with towering mansions!). I lived here in the early 80's for a few years and hardly recognized a thing when I returned. Our old villas are still standing (set to be leveled next year) and some of our friends live in the same complex, so it was fun to wander around and reminisce. Sharjah has grown a lot too, though not at the rate or scale of Dubai. The blue souk is still the same, which I love! Early on in our blog I have more pictures around the city, school campus, souks, etc. if you are interested. Thank you for the kind comments regarding the photos... its becoming a fast passion of mine=). So good to hear from you and I'll look forward to keeping in touch!
