I would have been so upset to have lost a collection of books to another person. Hopefully they will lend them to you when they are done and then you can pass them on to someone else!! I enjoy reading at bedtime but I don’t think that I would like audio books for the same reason you mentioned, I think they would put me right to sleep and then the next day I would have to rewind and try to find the place where I dozed off. LOL
I burn candles all the time as well, so I would never regift candles unless they smelled yucky. I prefer natural scents and sometimes I find things like candles and room fresheners can bee overpowering and sickeningly sweet or fruity. One of my all time favorite candle scents is Ocean, from Pier 1 Imports, it really smells like a day by the sea!!
