What amazes me Liz is that they can be snoring loudly and ignoring you and then the fridge door opens and they are on high alert!

Oh don't be fooled by their height. I can vouch for basset slobber reaching the ceiling on a regular basis.

It's those furry jowls that make me go -Aahh. Know what you mean about the slobber, at least they're below table height. Our flat-coat retriever's head was level with the table and a good shake of his head would send all screaming from the room.

all wonderful shots. I do like the dreamy quality of Fortnum's 2nd shot, basset owners know that if they are dead fast asleep, the nose is always on standby. Mason's disheveled look is devilish as always, those big fat feet beg for a good squishing and all their basset noses need kisses!!

These are just excellent. The first, in particular is stunning... unusual true, but stunning. I never thought I'd be an admirer of Bassett's noses.

I think it's funny that the bassets are "your monkeys" since my husband and I have decided that our cats probably don't know our names and just refer to us amongst themselves as "the monkeys" or perhaps as "You, Monkey" when addressing us directly. :-)

The final picture of Mason is adorable!
