Our rose garden is bursting into life with the promise of a blanket of colour over the next few weeks.  One of the first to bloom was The Land Of The Long White Cloud. So very fitting given it’s kiwi heritage.  The old English roses are doing well and bring a touch of Shakesperian glamour.    Taking this photograph has finally convinced me that if I’m going to make the most of what nature brings a macro lens is fast becoming my photographic investment.

Already the outlook from the house is more colourful and a pleasing distraction from the vast grey of the driveway.  Once again I’m reminded how we need to dial up the colour across our otherwise low maintenance beds.  But that’s for next year – one step at a time.  Getting the kitchen garden established and into a routine is enough of a challenge for now.  Although there are no roses I have planted out sweetpeas, marigolds and nasturtiums so its not all greens and carrots!
