My wish for Spring was granted earlier this week.  The bassets were loving the warmer sun to laze around on the veranda doing very little.  They were hoping for good weather to linger so they could get their extra long walk.  There are always special hikes to be had a a weekend.

I’d been wishing for good weather for the UK too.  There was a family wedding this weekend – MT’s cousin – Suzie marrying Steve.  Suzie was my bridesmaid when we got married 13 years ago.

Unfortunately the bassets nor Suzie got their perfect weather but I’m sure it didn’t dampen the excitement and fun that was had.  Setting aside the weather it was our first major family occasion we’ve missed being in New Zealand.  That 12,000 mile difference opened up wide for us this weekend knowing the whanau would be gathering to enjoy this momentous occasion.

Back here in kiwi land we were enjoying another wintery blast.  We woke to snow with the Rimutaka Hill closed to traffic.  It seemed like it was going to settle as it gently layered the garden.  Like before it seemed to disappear as quickly as it arrived but did put in another quick appearance as Fortnum and Mason took us out for a walk.

Oh what fun it would have been had the snow really settled.  Maybe I should stop wishing for Spring weather and stick to wishing for snow.  Wonder what weather you were wishing for this weekend?

First view from our bedroom window – you can just make out the hills

Basset walking weather :o(

At least the double digging of the salad/herb/vegetable bed can be put off for another weekend!

Extra licking for the bassets on the grasses!

Opphs, really must spread that mulch – snow makes it a little more conspicuous
