For all I love the raw beauty of New Zealand there is nothing quite like English countryside to warm the bottom of your soul. We’ve been holidaying in Norfolk which is one of England’s finest counties but the same can be said of Herefordshire and Yorkshire where we have spent the lion’s share of this trip.  I suspect that the paths I’ve wandered around the Blickling Estate have changed little over the centuries and thankfully the auspices of the National Trust will protect its beauty for centuries to come.

As the morning sun raised it’s sleepy head earlier this week I was struck by the rich tapestry of nature, history and country life that makes England as green and pleasant as it can be.  The only thing that was missing was a couple of basset hounds snuffling in the undergrowth to make the moment perfectly complete.
