Although born within the sound of the bow bells and technically a Londoner I could claim London as my spiritual home.  But I won’t, although I admit to being tempted to climb on the childhood roots bandwagon after the wonderful experience of London in the last few weeks. The Olympic festivities brought a focus and purpose to London that I’ve never seen before.  People were friendly and obliging.  Keen to help one another and even share a smile across a crowded tube. The good weather probably helped but the place was brimming with positive energy and a collective enthusiasm for everyone to have a good time. It seemed like a throw back to an earlier time when people took the time to enjoy the view and pay attention to others.  Or perhaps it was just me seeing some of my old haunts with a fresh pair of eye, not jaded from regularity and routine.  Whatever the reason it felt good to be in London and I felt proud “my” city was doing such a wonderful job welcoming the rest of the world.
