There is something about cocktail hour that brings me peace and comfort.  It’s that post exertion time when you can kick back, relax and enjoy the moment. For me Friday night cocktail hour is the ultimate decompression time in the week. I may no longer be raising a glass with colleagues and friends back in London or Wellington but to sit with a glass of wine and just be is one of the highlights of my week.

With the sun back in our lives I rugged up and enjoyed its last vestiges sitting on the back veranda.  There wasn’t much heat in its rays but I wanted to soak them up nevertheless.  As the nip came into the air I moved indoors to watch the sun blink a last few times casting light on the mountainside. And  then I yelled for my camera – this was one moment I wanted to capture and say cheers to you!

What can be better in life.  A moment in time to let out a big sigh at the end of the week.  To toast the weekend.  And have my big basset come say hello .
