It was only when I saw the patchwork of green fields through the plane window that the reality of this trip to the homeland hit me.  There is nothing quite like an English Landscape to warm your soul.  Whilst New Zealand is made of rugged wilderness here in England it’s the cultivated landscapes that makes it an elegant place to be.  Sure there is a wild beauty in parts of the British Isles but for me I’m a sucker for the rolling countryside, quaint villages and historic buildings.  Perhaps I’m just a traditionalist at heart.

It’s the timeless quality of England’s landscape I love.

I’m equally smitten with the cultivated gardens.  Formal gardens are my favourite rather than the blousey English Cottage gardens.

I dream that one day our garden at home will grown up to have a spot of formal Englishness about it with a dash of edgy kiwi-ness to soften the edges.
