Yes my boys are coming of age.  They are one year old today.  It’s hard to believe that these lounge lizard hounds are the same fluffy cute puppies I brought home last December.

This picture shows how they preferred to spend their birthday morning.  Admittedly it was foul weather outside with a howling gale and spring rains.  Nevertheless you think that these boys would have perked up for their birthday portrait.

So what do two spoiled bassets have for their birthday then?  If I’d had my way they might have an extra 15 minutes walk to overcome the cheese that had been requested as a birthday topping on their dinner.  However, MT went to fetch some milk, bread and the post and came back with arm fulls of treats from the pet store.  They even got jumbo treats from our friendly pet store ladies who love to have visits from Fortnum when I’m brave enough to take them to town.

As pictures speak louder than words.  Here’s a special range of basset blogging pictures of my birthday boys.

Dead silence – the serious business of chewing birthday chews

Moving on to our new favourite toy – Mason with his birthday snake (this thing rattles and hisses which frightened the life out of Fortnum who insisted climbing into my lap for comfort).

Got him under control!

Just as exciting but not quite so scary – this has bells and lots of bits to chew.  Much more to Fortnum’s liking!

It’s chaseable too!

What happens when they both want to play!

Time for some birthday me time.  Fortnum in quiet reflection.

Mason taking his own time out.  And still taming that snake!

The weather is expected to improve tomorrow so we’ll aim for those birthday portraits again.
