Since there are only so many times that you can hang around a gate it made sense for us to take to the lanes and enjoy the country around Kaitoke. We are surrounded by Regional Council forestry and recreational parks so there is no shortage of places to trek to.... As you might expect in a place called Tunnel Gully that there would be a tunnel! Not to disappoint there is indeed the former railway Mangaroa Tunnel which you can walk through. It’s pitch black, a little wet in the middle and takes courage to walk through it...
